Kokoro Wato

Interactive elements

In Japan, the concept of kokoro wato (, lit. "whispers of the heart") refers to the subtle, intuitive feelings and emotions that arise from deep within an individual's heart. This phrase has been used in various contexts, including literature, philosophy, and psychology, to describe the quiet, inner voice that guides one's thoughts, feelings, and actions. Despite its importance in Japanese culture, kokoro wato remains a relatively understudied concept in Western academia. This paper aims to bridge this gap by exploring the theoretical and practical implications of kokoro wato in Japanese culture and psychology.
