This is the most common reason people seek this tool. Canon printers use absorbent pads to collect ink purged during cleaning cycles. The printer tracks this volume via an internal counter. When the counter reaches a limit, the printer locks up and displays a "Service Error 5B00" (or similar). The V5510 can reset this counter, allowing the printer to function again (though pads may still need physical replacement).
| Feature | Function | |--------|----------| | Waste ink counter reset | Clears 5B00/5B01 errors | | EEPROM reset | Restores factory memory state | | Ink level reset | Forces full cartridge detection | | Service test prints | Diagnostic nozzle/EEPROM check | | Region change | Modifies printer’s regional settings |
A: Yes. Once the printer accumulates another ~5,000–10,000 pages of waste ink, the counter will trip again. You will need to re-run the tool or physically replace the pads.
